Get Healthy: Week 3- Portion Size!

Week 3, here we are! I again don't have accurate progress to share. I am down a total of 10lbs from week one, however most of the loss is probably due to the fact that I have been so ill. Last week I was in and out of the hospital and having several tests run. I return today to my specialist and will hopefully know more about the situation. It is looking like it might shape up to be my gallbladder, a stomach ulcer or my ulcerative colitis. All possibilities just further cement the fact that I need to make my health a higher priority.

Week one I focused on H20. I am still cutting out soda and sugary drinks and doing my best to stay on top of hydration by not drinking my calories but H20 instead!

This week I am tackling the bad habit of not "eating". That's right! NOT eating is one of my worst habits. I tend to stay so busy during the day that I neglect the fact that I have not eaten anything all day. This is a killer on my metabolism because when I do finally eat I am starving and feel that I can justify anything and any amount that I crave and consume.

So, this week I am attempting to actually sit down with a plate of properly proportioned food three times a day. This will elimination the "justified" snacking that I tend to do during the rest time of the day. I will also continue to drink plenty of water!

What is a proper portion????
There are many great resources out there to figure out what and how much of each food item you should consume. One of my favorite is called "My Plate". This is a free website that visually allows you to see what your plate should look like. You can find it here.

  1. My phone alarm goes off reminding me it's meal time, otherwise I might skip meals too. It's working for me. Hope you have a great week!
